What is DIVADANDI and What is SAVE?

In Gujarati language Divadandi means a lighthouse guiding ships and fishermen safely to the land.  Standing between the land and the sea, the Divadandi has come to symbolise a source of security and guidance for the fishermen. While for the traders on land, the Divadandi offers new promises and challenges, opening new horizons beyond the sea.

In more than one sense, SAVE [Saline Area Vitalization Enterprise], a technical service organisation -- has been serving the role of a Divadandi for the coastal communities of Gujarat, India. SAVE is a Public Limited Company established in August 1995. It is engaged in Natural resource regeneration along with livelihood development programmes in the backward coastal villages of South Gujarat.  The goal of SAVE is to address the twin issues of poverty and degeneration of natural resources by supporting entrepreneurial instincts of the local people, particularly the poor.
